Silence System is a 2 people unit, Masanari Mitsudome (guitars, effects) and Naoto Nishizawa (percussion and drums), playing experimental / improvised music. The key element of Silence System’s music is “MA”. “MA” is a word meaning “space” in Japanese. “MA” is an essential element in almost all Japanese traditional art. Silence System is aiming to play music in between improvisation and composition. For Silence System, improvisation is not only the way of expressing emotions but also an important factor of the musical structure.

Silence Systemは演奏行為を即興と作曲の狭間で行うことを目標としています。即興演奏を単なる感情表現としてだけではなく、曲としての雰囲気を形づくる重要な要素として扱っています。そのような意味においてはSilence Systemの演奏するところの曲とは構造や情景であり、細かい部分の形式は即興演奏によって形づくられているといえます。
